Front Porch Investments is a nonprofit dedicated to advancing affordable and workforce housing solutions across the Omaha metro. Formed in 2021 in response to the housing crisis, Front Porch catalyzes housing investment through flexible capital, policy work, and cross-sector collaboration.
Front Porch Investments emerged in response to the need for strategic investment and coordinated leadership in affordable housing in the Greater Omaha metro area. Guided by the strategic framework outlined in the Assessment of Housing Affordability, Needs & Priorities report, we have focused on unifying and amplifying affordability efforts across the local ecosystem and providing strategic, flexible funding to help meet our community’s growing need for affordable housing. Front Porch Investments serves as a strategic partner and community connector among public officials, housing developers, community development organizations, and funders, consolidating efforts and increasing efficiency to close the affordable housing gap.
Key Milestones
- Fall 2024: Launched the Housing Innovation Fund to seed new ideas and foster creative solutions to reduce barriers to development
- Summer 2023: Established the community-led Greenlining Fund to support homeownership and housing stability in historically disinvested areas
- August 2022: Introduced the Development and Preservation Fund in partnership with the City of Omaha, utilizing $20 million in ARPA funds and a $20 million match in private funding
- Spring 2022: Launched a pilot round of loans and grants, investing $7.3 million in affordable housing development and preservation projects
