Omaha’s urban core is at a pivotal moment. Major public investments including the streetcar are accelerating interest in development and increasing land values in downtown and midtown. At the same time, the need for affordable housing continues to grow, particularly in areas that provide access to jobs, transit, and opportunity.
Market momentum alone will not deliver affordability at scale. Without intentional strategies, rising land costs and development pressure risk pushing affordable housing out of the city’s center. To help ensure growth remains inclusive, the City of Omaha and Front Porch Investments have partnered with ULI Nebraska to convene a Technical Assistance Panel (TAP) focused on preserving and increasing affordable housing in the urban core.
Through this TAP, local and national experts will identify the most significant barriers to affordable housing production and develop practical, actionable recommendations to better leverage public and private investment.
The two-day TAP will conclude with a public presentation of early findings and recommendations, sharing momentum and setting the stage for next steps. Please join us at this presentation by registering below!

MAPA Council of Officials, Regional Housing Symposium
Front Porch co-hosted a symposium event with MAPA (Metropolitan Area Planning Agency) on Wednesday, December 10th, where we dove into innovative local housing strategies and how cities can maximize new federal housing incentives.
The event included a keynote on federal housing policy, virtual remarks from Rep. Mike Flood, a panel of local mayors, and interactive, solution-focused discussion roundtables.
Alazne (Ali) Solis, our federal housing policy consultant, returned to Omaha (you may have seen her keynote at the R2U conference last summer) to share her insights from D.C. and lead the conversations with our local and federal leaders.
This summit was presented by the Omaha Chamber of Commerce, designed for business leaders ready to take action. Front Porch provided an overview of best practices in employer-led housing solutions and moderated a panel featuring four local employers who are leading the way on innovative housing models through innovative partnerships, workplace solutions, and policy engagement.

Porch Talks: Developer Forum
Front Porch hosted a group of developers, architects, funders, government officials, and many other members of the affordable housing ecosystem for a happy hour and networking event that covered Front Porch's strategy to increase affordable housing in 2026. The Front Porch team discussed updated funding options and solicited feedback from the group to incorporate into our 2026 loan product terms.

Front Porch Investments hosted a panel and community input session at the Malcom X Foundation during the 2025 Native Omaha Days to engage the community in conversation around affordable housing.

The Omaha Municipal Land Bank, Spark CDI, and Front Porch Investments came together to present the "Reignite2Unite Development Symposium". National and local experts shared insights and resources at the intersection of land activation, affordable housing, and economic development to propel growth in Omaha.
